The Mortimer D. Sackler MD Winter Conference in Developmental Psychobiology is an annual meeting where top scientists in developmental neuroscience and behavior gather to exchange new data and ideas. This multidisciplinary meeting, designed to enhance communication and collaboration among the world’s top developmental laboratories, serves not only as a means of disseminating findings from the Sackler Institute to like-minded research groups, but allows younger scientists to interact with the more senior members of this research community to enhance their intellectual and career development. The meeting functions like a Gordon or Banbury Conference in that only a small number of top scientists are invited to present on key topics relevant to brain and behavioral development. Although the symposia material is presented in depth across a broad range of research domains, the meeting takes place in a relaxed and isolated location that encourages participants to dine together and gather during off hours to informally exchange ideas and propose new collaborations. This meeting has proven very successful in these regards and has become the preeminent conference of its kind.
